DANSEN IN STILTE   (SILENT MOVES)

As a deaf person, you're used to communicate with your body, through sign language. What happens when you learn to dance?Five deaf youngsters are shown during their preparations and dance training for a multimedia performance entitled Moving Light. We experience what it means to dance without music, and what rhythm is in silence. Deaf video artists are projecting images to dance to. The inability to hear incites other senses to find new ways to move. The particular and experimental presence and absence of sound, and its tangibility, adds new tensity to the story. The film is about the various ways we are able to communicate and about miscommunication with and without sound. Eventually in the film dance and sign language are melting together.

Director:  Marieke Helmus
